Week Off — Manage Extra Working for Week Offs
What this tab does: Define overtime or compensatory off rules specifically for weekly off days (e.g., Saturdays, Sundays, or whichever days are configured as weekly offs in your organization). This tab only appears in Advanced Configuration mode.
What You'll See
The Week Off tab opens with a single, prominent toggle at the top:
"Copy same as week day" — Toggle switch (default: ON / blue)
When this toggle is ON, the tab shows only that single line — all rules from the Week Day tab are automatically applied to week offs. No additional configuration needed.
Two Modes of Operation
🟢 Mode 1: Copy from Week Day (Default)
Toggle: ON (blue)
This is the simplest approach. The system uses the exact same rules you configured on the Week Day tab for week-off days as well.
When to use this: If your policy is the same regardless of whether the employee works on a regular day or a week-off day.
💡 Example: "Our company pays the same overtime rate whether you work extra on a Tuesday or a Saturday."
🔵 Mode 2: Custom Week Off Rules
Toggle: OFF (grey)
When you turn the toggle OFF, the full configuration form expands. The fields shown depend on which compensation type you choose:
Expanded Form — Overtime Variant
If you select Overtime in the "For extra working hours, Employee get" toggle, the form shows:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| For extra working hours, Employee get | Overtime or Compensatory Off/Pay |
| Overtime configuration will be | Fixed or Slab Wise |
| Slabs button | Appears when Slab Wise is selected — configure escalating rate ranges |
| Allow overtime convert to compensatory at the time of approval | Toggle — let managers convert OT to comp-off at approval time |
💡 Key difference from Week Day: The Week Off Overtime form is simpler — it does NOT include "Overtime policy applies based on" (Shift Timings / Number of Hours) or "Extended working beyond overtime" since there is no scheduled shift on off days.
💡 Common scenario: Many organizations pay a higher rate for week-off overtime (e.g., 2x instead of 1x). Turn off the copy toggle and configure the premium rate here.
Expanded Form — Compensatory Off/Pay Variant
If you select Compensatory Off/Pay, the form shows the same comp-off fields as the Week Day tab:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Minimum extra working required | Hours for half day & full day comp-off |
| Maximum compensatory off can be earned per day | Cap on comp-offs per day |
| Compensatory off leave balance expires | Never / End Of Calendar Year / End Of Financial Year / Fixed |
| Expire comp off after | Days from request date (only if "Fixed" is selected) |
| On expiry, comp off balance will be | Lapsed or Encashed |
💡 Another common scenario: Some companies give comp-offs for week-off work instead of cash. Set "Compensatory Off/Pay" here while keeping Week Day set to "Overtime."
🔀 Mixing Compensation Types Creates Extra Tabs
If you choose Overtime on Week Day but Compensatory Off/Pay on Week Off (or vice versa), both the Overtime tab and Compensatory Off tab will appear in the tab bar — giving you 7 tabs total instead of 6.

FAQs
Q: If I change the Week Day settings later, will the Week Off settings automatically update? A: Only if "Copy same as week day" is ON. When the toggle is on, Week Off always mirrors Week Day. If you turned it off and customized, those custom settings remain independent.
Q: Can I set a higher overtime rate for week offs compared to week days? A: Yes — that's exactly why this separate tab exists. Turn off the copy toggle and configure the higher rate (or slab) on this tab.
Q: How does the system know which days are "week offs"? A: Week offs are defined in your organization's Shift configuration and Work Week settings. The system checks each employee's individual shift and week-off configuration when applying the rules.
Q: What if some employees have different week offs (e.g., Sunday only vs. Saturday + Sunday)? A: The system respects each employee's individual shift configuration. The overtime policy rules for "Week Off" apply to whatever day is marked as that employee's weekly off.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Toggle won't turn off | Browser glitch | Refresh the page and try clicking the toggle again |
| Expanded form looks different from Week Day | Week Off has fewer fields (no shift-timing options) | This is expected — Week Off doesn't have "Shift Timings vs Number of Hours" since there's no regular shift on off days |
| Settings reset after navigating back | Didn't click Next before going back | Always click Next to save before using Previous |
| Extra tabs appeared at the top | You chose a different compensation type than Week Day | This is expected — mixing Overtime and Comp-Off creates both tabs |
